Case Study: Customer-Facing Website
Pacific Power
wattsmart: wattsmartsavings.net Redesign
Background
Pacific Power is an electric power company in the western United States. PacifiCorp has two business units, one of which is: Pacific Power, a regulated electric utility with service territory throughout Oregon, northern California, and southeastern Washington. Pacific Power partnered with Nexant to redesign the utility website to align with new brand standards and improve the customer navigation in finding energy efficiency choices. The Nexant Program Marketing staff worked to create a mobile-responsive site, using opensource CMS platform WordPress due to its expansion possibilities and ease of use. The new web platform resulted in a clearer customer navigation to find the appropriate energy efficiency programs available regionally in Washington or California. We also connected the website to the Public User Experience through a simple, clean design aesthetic based on research that customers search by measure type first with a clear navigation bar at the top that highlights the most important information buckets through easy to identify icons.
Objectives
Development of a dynamic and responsive website to align with new brand standards and improve the customer navigation experience.
Results
Pacific Power’s former website was outdated, difficult to manage, and challenging to navigate. Nexant collaborated with Pacific Power staff to expand online function, improve usability, and provide the customers with better access to utility services and resources. The site features a breadth of the custom site components including state specific content and resources. The new website has addressed all staff and customer needs and has received a positive response.
